Since there hasnt been anything on this sight, I thought I would post up and tell you that we Killed the bass yesterday. We were using spoons and drop shot and caught about 40 to 50 bass with about 20 or so keepers. Really, for about and hour and a half, we caught so many fish it was hard to keep count. We were fishing around Indian Point on Table Rock...The fish were absolutely stacked on a point and were all over my graph.... Image

Triton... That's great !! I heard a similar report from about a week ago from a friend. He was fishing a spoon and just tore 'em up... It's nice to have a good day once in awhile..... Image

No, but about a month ago I was doing basically the same thing around the Baxter area and caught a 10 lb. flathead....I did bring him home with me and is now in the freezer...lol

Sounds like a lot of fun Triton. I have fished several times in the Baxter area and love it there, we used to stay at Sky Harbor. I really miss fishing that pond!

Sounds like a great day Triton. I wish I had the time to get out these days, but a little too much work this time of year. Anybody do any smallmouth fishing this time of year? I know most of the rivers are up, but wondering if anybody has been catching any down on the Rock or at Stockton?

Yeah, we had been catching a few about 35 feet deep or so. I had a friend go out a week or so ago and he had 4 keeper brownies all around 2 and 1/2 lbs....Has been a little cool yesterday and today to get out there.

Man I can't wait to get out after them again. What is the water temp. like these days on the lakes? Any opinions on what the jerkbait bite will be like at the lakes this year? I have heard a lot about it, but never had the chance to get out and try it myself.

The jerkbait bite hasnt been as good down here at TR as it was a few years back. I think you could still catch some on it up farther north. Dont know why it hasnt been as good as earlier....I can catch more fish during that time swimming a grub on lighter line.

That surprises me too. I have heard nothing but good things coming from the rock lately. I know it has recovered very well from LMBV and figured it would be as good down tehre as anywhere. Is there any kind of productivity difference between a suspending rogue and a lucky craft pointer? I am having a hard time spending that much no a bait, if one 1/3 of the price will do just as well, but if it makes a difference, that would make it a little easier!

I think the pointer has a couple of advantages: 1) it is heavier and easier to throw into the wind and 2) it is easier to make move under the water...You dont have to twitch it much to make it move where you have to twitch the rogue a little more. I really dont use the pointer that much but do have a few of them....I fish bass tournaments and if they would hit on a 50$ lure i would definately have one of those too....Now to answer your question, I have a number of Rogue's but they are redone by Timmy Hughes as far as color and they cost about $15 per...so it is really a toss up.... Good sack Triton!
LS, I catch a lot of big crappie on a jerkbait, too. I really don't mind a bit!
