Jug Boats
Jug Boats
I had a reflection the other day, just thought I would throw it out. How many of you ever made a jug boat when you was a kid? I remembered the time me and my cousin built a square out of some scrap boards, wrapped it with chicken wire while stuffing it with empty jugs. It was not much of a float, we still got wet, but for some 9 years old boys, man, it was the chit. We would float out, never to far, with our cane poles, some hooks, pieces of sticks for bobbers, pocket full of assorted washers for weights and some bread slices for bait. A pocket knife was standard equipment.

When I was a kid we built little jons out of pine sides and plywood bottoms and sealed them with roofing tar. They floated, most of the time.

Huck is doing good I guess, he made parole. I have not heard from him since, though.

When I was a kid, we couldn't afford jugs. If we found any, they either got eaten or made into shoes.
