Re: H & R 10 ga
Is this yours?
I used on for my first turkey hunt. 36" barrel, long tom, full choke.
I'd be interested in having one about 20-22" long barrel with iron sights and have it threaded for after market chokes. Pretty much what 2B uses. It would have to have a nice recoil pad though.

Re: H & R 10 ga
H&R and New England Firearms merged a couple of years ago.
H&R has been around for a long, long time. They make strong, simple, dependable single shot rifles and shotguns..they used to make a breaktop revolver in several calibers, but I think that was discontinued. The H&R shotguns are mainly breaktop single shots, but they made a high end autoloader at one time. For $75 you can't go too wrong.

Re: H & R 10 ga
I absolutely love the NEF 10 Gauge. I got the SS 24inch with screw in chokes, mossy oak break up. Patterns great and it kicks a he11 of a lot less than my 835 12 gauge did. The big bird I took this year was every bit of 50 yards away. I was using the Remington hevi 6's though.

Re: H & R 10 ga
Did it come with open sights, a double bead, or just a bead? With the range that thing would reach out to, I'd go with open sights at least.
Also, what type of chokes does it take?
Thanks 2B.

Re: H & R 10 ga
Because, like most H & R firearms, it weighs about 40 lb.

Maybe he tucks the stock under his armpit, so the full force of the kick doesn't actually hit him. I'm just guessing here.

Dave...I don't think you have choke options with the H&R shotguns. The full retail on those 10 gauge gunss is around two and a quarter, and they are pretty much no-frills hunting guns. With a hunting load of #4, you shouldn't need but one shot. I have a .223 and a .308 in the rifle versions, and they have both performed well.

Re: H & R 10 ga
It's a 9lb gun. A bit heavier but just a pound over most pumps. The weight does not bother me in the least and have not noticed at all. It has a bead sight but it clobered the he11 out of the two birds I took with it this year. As far as chokes, I do not have any idea on optional chokes. The extra full it came with is more than sufficient. I can't see using this as a upland bird gun but for Turkey it's great.

Re: H & R 10 ga
C&W, the one I have has screw in chokes. I am sure their are after market chokes and I do think you can get the full, and modified chokes from H&R for this particulair gun. I don't see a need to try other chokes at this point for what I am using it for thus I have not researched it any.

I have a Burris 6x24 I'll sell you real cheap. I think it would make you 10g look cooler.
