Theodosia?
Anybody got a plan of attack for next weekend? Or, are youz guyz just gonna go fishin' like me? I only rigged out 8 rods on Pete's boat last time, I guess I need to do 12 or so this time...might need to borrow a few of them KC pimp jigs!

Re: Theodosia?
I will be glad to tie some up for you....at this point in time, not only do I have no plan of attack, but still don't know if I'm even going to fish the tournament or not. The Express is out in the barn with the trailer tongue pointing up at the rafters and three and a half plastic gas containers of fuel mix sitting off on the side where I have pumped all the gas out that the pickup hose can reach. Today is pull the carbs day and see if there is any obstruction in the intakes.....it's not looking promising, but I gotta get the tub up and running pretty soon. As a minimum, there won't be any prefishing.....

Re: Theodosia?
Oh yeah, AA....before I forget...while you were off playing around at the PWT thing, I was here in the cold and wind casting up some more bouncers. I now have a few KC Pimp style bouncers, complete with glow in the dark beads and a nylon clevis between the weight and the top twist...the clevis is the black quick connect, so you can attack a monster blade for more thumping. They might scare the walleyes completely out of the lake, but in real muddy water ya just never know...could save the day sometime.
Anyway, if you want some, they're yours.

Re: Theodosia?
Hey, at this point I'll try anything...I wasn't up at the PWT thing this week, some of us have to work for a living ya know, this is peak greenhouse season!
If ya don't get the Express tub running this week, ya might want to get ahold of Dave Fisher up in Buffalo, I think he still might need a partner?

Re: Theodosia?
AA...one question: does lead core line transmit electric current????? If so, I may have this trolling thing whipped if I can find a super quiet muffler for my 6KW generator.
Doc checks livewells for fish, but they never look for a walleye immobilization enhancement device bolted to the floor of the boat. Hmmmmmmmm.....Dave probably wouldn't let me bolt the generator frame to his boat floor.

Re: Theodosia?
Some twenty-six years ago, I bought my first "bass boat"...it was a 15-1/2 ft Cajun Special Super Jon with a Stinger 75 on the back. It had a hole shot like you would not believe....anyway, I was fishing with the Ocean Springs Bassmasters club (Mississippi) and at a meeting this guy came up and asked if I would be interested in participating in a fish shocking experiment as part of his Master's Degree requirements. He had a stack of permits two inches thick, so I agreed to take him out in my aluminum boat. We were met by four Mississippi game wardens who inspected every crevice of the boat before we left, and told us they would be there when we came in to check us out again, but everything was in order, so we loaded his Honda generator and probes in to the boat and away we went. We were shocking up marsh bass on the Pascagoula River about five miles inland from the Gulf, and I can tell you for certain that I was nervous as a hooker on the Amen Row at the New South Baptist Church (see Ozark's post about squirrels) when he fired up that generator and used the boat itself as the ground, but I never felt so much as a tingle the entire time he was shocking fish. In the two or three hours we were out, he must have brought up several hundred fish of all types....largemouth bass, crappie, sheepshead, redfish, etc. Maybe it was just coincidence, but I won the next two tournaments held on that water......you certainly get a good feel for where fish will hold in the tidal basin.
I hope our friends at MDC realize that I am being facetious (that means I am not serious) about running a shocking generator in my boat.....of course, one never knows. Ebay has high power fish shockers for sale all the time for around $200 that run off the ignition battery...virtually impossible to detect in use I would imagine...small, make no noise, but the dead giveaway would be the fish rolling up on top....anyway, I don't have that much to blow on a new toy while the Express is down and out.

CW - I know you're being facetious about shocking fish. I know all of us here are interested in figuring out how to catch fish, not in bringing a bunch of meat home.
But I think a lot of more casual fishermen maybe don't realize how Conservation agents work to catch such violators. Mostly, agents have been watching for a while BEFORE they ever make contact with a fisherman. These Ozarks hills and deep woods are just made for observation with powerful binoculars or a spotting scope.
About a week ago I was at Galena among a bunch of boats fishing the white bass run. I trolled past a boat that had two fishermen in it - they looked just like everyone else, until I noticed one of the guys was watching the boats 'way down the river with binoculars. Hmmm.
Maybe that's why I get checked by Conservation so seldom, I'm not doing anything illegal. But I bet I've been watched a lot, and someone shocking fish would get caught pretty quick. So, I always act like someone's looking, because they might be.

Re: Theodosia?
Looks like we're out of the Theodosia field, for medical reasons. Last time it was me, this time it's John. It's heck getting old. Norfork will likely be a no-go as well; we're setting our sights on Stockton in July. Sorry.

PD,
Sorry to hear you and JE won't make it this weekend. My moto is "Getting older beats the alternative"
See you at Stockton in July!

Re: Theodosia?
Thanks. If it were me, I'd look for the crank-trolling bite, either on points 'n' flats or out in open water. If it were my partner, he'd look for the bouncer bite, points 'n' flats...
Geez, it's 11 miles to the main lake from the launch site. Gonna be some gas-burnin' going on!

Re: Theodosia?
PD...I hear there are a couple of folks still looking for a partner for the Theodosia do. I got a pan in the fire with TR, depending on some things happening or not happening, and I won't know if I am going to fish until proably tomorrow. If I don't fish with Marty, I probably won't fish at all. Me thinks the weather might be kinda nasty, too. Bottom line is that there are rides out there if you want one. See AA's note above about Dave Fisher out of Buffalo.
Hate to see you miss the money in two tournaments in a row...the Peanut Gallery was getting used to your smiling face up there accepting the trophy and check.

Re: Theodosia?
My experience is much like Ozarks. I can think of two instances where I witnessed ticketing and they both came after a long range observence.
When I was a kid, you could find shocking equipment in any barn, where they had installed the new phones in the house.

Re: Theodosia?
HB....those old "barn phone" are now worth a fortune on the antique market. For years you could buy the crank generator from an outfit called Edmund Scientific.....they advertised in several outdoor magazines, but I think they closed the doors several years ago. My dad and grandfather had a "fishing machine" to use in ponds (legal back then) made from the phone generator, a Model T ignition coil, WWII surplus field phone wire, and a couple of old iron wagon wheels. It would definitely put fish on top of the water.
