I caught a few this weekend on the banks, males 11-13", but it was rough. The spawn is real close though. I did catch a couple good size drum, a 4lber and a 9+lber on 4lb line using a 13' jigging pole.
Judging by the 10 day weather forcast, it might be another week or more before they settle in.

Hey DT,
What arm of the lake were you fishing?
I'm trying to decide if I want to go this weekend or wait until next weekend. I'm kind of watching the weather.

Not to influence your decision, but the weather reports indicate cooler temps and chances for rain which will probably keep them off the banks. If I had to pick one of the next two weekends strictly for fishing, it would probably be next weekend (Mother's Day notwithstanding).

Thanks Tigerhaze you didn't influence my decision but confirmed my decision not to take Friay off and ask for next Friday.
We did really good up there two weeks ago (4/8-10). Hopefully they weren't too far along when the cold arrived that they will still hit the shallows again when it warms up.
I hope to go up next week (I will have to make sure I'm home on Mother's Day, I don't want to end up in the dog house with the wife, Mom and M.I.L.) and then hit Mark Twain the week after.

Agree with Tiger on this one! next week temps in the 70's may bring the temp back to spawning levels! Won't happen this weekend. Bruce

Re: Truman Crappie
I went last Saturday evening (before the really hot weather). Fished the Tebo Creek arm of Truman. Crappie were in 8 feet of water near brushpiles. Caught several nice large ones in the 11 to 13 inch lengths- however there only seemed to be two to three per brushpile and then kept moving. I was told by at the bait shop that some of the crappie "pros" were not finding them in shallower water, and my testing of the shallower waters confirmed that. I also caught several nice white bass and a nice channel cat to boot.
I haven't fished since Ssaturday (stormy Sunday) so I am sure that the conditions and depths have totally changed.
