...and be specific!!!

Thought this was a fascinating discussion on one of the Wisconsin boards (note: change it to "ascending" order, unless you LIKE reading up from the bottom):

I personally don't mind being specific when giving out info. What are the chances the next guy is going to fish a given spot exactly as you do, anyway? Or that the fish will even be there 10 minutes after you leave? But it's true that many of us like to share our successes--makes us feel big, I guess. Works for me.

I do love to explore and find new spots, new patterns. Unfortunately, fishing time is so limited that it's hard not to keep covering the same old ground... In my case, K Dock.

I have no problem telling certain locations, but I will not get too specific as to what exactly they were biting, and if trolling what depth and speed.

Depends on who I am sharing info with.

I would lie like a Congressman if somebody asked me about that information right before a get together or tournament.
Most other times I would tell people that I know if I was catching anything, what was biting, and the general technique that had worked for me. Guys that have passed on good info to me in the past can expect the same courtesy from me. As PD said, everybody works a given area a little bit differently, and what worked yesterday may not be worth a hoot today or tomorrow.

When I first started guiding in NE MN, I learned the hard way as far as passing along info. I had a (former) friend that was having a heck of a time locating walleyes on a certain lake. I gave him a couple of my "A list" locations, but told him that if I am on it with a client, don't crowd me, and most of all, don't tell anyone.

Needless to say, this guy not only sat on these locations I told him about, but he told some of his buddies as well. Lesson was learned.

I am very willing to share information, as long as it does not burn me later.

I still share info right up to the colors Im using its the just the way i work, its no fun to keep it all

I will and have given friends info especially if a spot or general pattern is likely to provide enough fish for both of us. I enjoy watching friends do well just as much as doing well myself, after all its just a game. I will say however that its different down here where there a alot of spots and miles of lake to fish. On a small lake I probably would think differently.

Yes, it did hit the Rock Walker...and if you look in my crank box I have other RW, they aren't new to me, we used them in Iowa some years back and I have had good success with them here. I think lee posted a good point on one other thread that banging btm can be the answer some times and those RW,s do that best.
