Trolling with Da 'bumb

Post by bullitt » July 4th, 2005, 9:26 pm

I went fishing with Lakebumb and Little 'bumb last Sat on upper TR. I had a ball! We seined the water with 6 lines out, boards, the whole cheese. Little 'bumb manged to winch in some small spots, a bull 'gill or two, and a 2 1/2lb LMB.
We were ready to cry "uncle", started reeling in, and 3 rods brought in walleye. Two of which were short, one of which was not. The guy cranking in the keeper didn't quite close the deal, and he was none too happy with the outcome! Image
I went back to that area today, and spent 3 hours feeding PD's pet 'gills, but no sign of wallace.
Lakebumb has the coolest driftsocks, but they are rigid plastic. I had never seen anything like them. Worked like a charm!
I hope Da 'bumbs made it back to camp in time to keep the War Dept happy, we were cutting it a little close. Image
I had a great morning, and hope they did, too.
Give me a holler guys, and we'll try again.
Rehab is for quitters.

Bullitt, stick a big leech down there. No sense feeding the gills. All that time spent with your line out of the water...or towing a savaged/ravaged worm...

That little bumb is going to be some fisherman. He puts me to shame everytime I get in the boat with him. Sounds like you guys did ok. Congrats.

We had a great time on upper TR fishing with Bullitt. Little bumb had a great time but was a little "bumbed" about the keeper that was dangling over the water at the end of his rod then dropped back into the lake. My fault, should have grabbed the net. Image He loves to fish and I really enjoy taking him.

Big thanks to Bullitt for the lesson on upper TR. Its a bit out of my territory but a real nice area of the lake. Image

Took the family and dog trolling the morning of the 4th and caught a couple spots and little bumb reeled in a 4.1# Large mouth on a reef runner. The planer boards really move backwards when a good bass hits.

The drift socks are of the bargain basement variety. Homemade!! I used 2 5gal buckets and positioned them under the front hull. Drilled about 10 1/4" holes in the bottom of the buckets. They slow my boat from 2.4 mph to 1.8 mph.
Only drawback is they take up room if not in use. I had the buckets and rope so this setup cost me nothing to put together and work really well. Image
