Who will kill geese this weekend in an effort to save golf courses, city parks, and industrial park sidewalks ?
It's time to make large divots in the soil, and larger splashes in the lake.

Just the opposite for me...I aint seen a local in a week.
Had them patterned to an easy Saturday morning kill...drive right up to the edge of the water and kick the blind and dekes out and be home by 9.
Don't know where they went though....they is cuttin corn now and I imagine that is what is to blame...but I can't find them in any of the usual corn fields either.
I will be there whether they are or not.

I've not been back on the HFA lake, but I am sure the local group is still around unless the MDC has exterminated them too.

not golf course...but here is nine out of the ten. We got busted on the first bunch of about 20...came right over the trees without a sound and we was all standin around lookin at each other.
Second group of four comes in and one leaves (don't know how). Third group of 7 come in and six splat the water....then after we was takin pictures the left over one from the first four came back to meet his maker...while we was loadin the trucks.

Nice picture Dabs. Looks like the crew had a good time.
Our locals didn't cooperate like I wanted them to.

Way to grind 'em, Dabs.
I ran about 90 geese off of the lake before shooting time. Before any had the chance to return, the farmer decided that Sat. was a good day to start combining beans.
Combines, pick-ups, hopper wagons, grain trucks, and all made me leave pretty early.

It was a pretty good morning. We were picking up at 9:15ish because the sun came out and it was getting warm. By the time we had stuffed picked up and was takin pictures, the clouds came back in and the birds started moving again. A guy called me about an hour and a half later and told me he had just went by there and it had about 50 more sittin on the water then.
There is always at least one morning this week and a day this weekend.

Speaking of gooses and ducks, has anyone seen and heard em flying south? Normally, on a cool day I would have encountered some of em, but has it been too warm or is it a little early for em...

Triton -
We are startin to get a few early birds around. Lots of teal around which is normal for this time of year and have seen quite a few woodies and some pintails. Have seen two groups of mallards with about a dozen in each group and actually saw some coots Saturday while goose huntin.
They is gettin here.

Last night I watched around 200 woodrows and teal fly in to roost on a pond in Barton Co. Pretty cool! There were a very few big ducks coming in. I'm pretty sure they were gaddies, but it was getting pretty dark.
