CASSVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- A southwest Missouri woman is accused of killing her sometime boyfriend in what authorities believe started with an argument about frozen deer meat.
Adella Fae Patton, 44, of rural Exeter was charged Monday with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. She was jailed in Barry County on $250,000 bond.
Kevin Madison, 45, was found Sunday afternoon outside Patton's home with a gunshot wound in the forehead.
Sheriff Mick Epperly says Patton had called Madison to her home to get deer meat out of her freezer. Authorities believe the two began arguing in the driveway and that Madison hit the woman. Epperly says Patton got a revolver from her home and fired a warning shot before Madison was shot in the head.
The sheriff says the two formerly lived together and that Madison had been charged in the past with domestic assault.
