Cut the BS, where are you catching fish, ya Jabronies?
I tore 'em up at Truman last weekend. Is anyone else catching any, or planning to?

I'm planning to....I'm just waiting for my scout (BornBad) to post up where the fish are holding and the best colors for the Niangua. Drinking, fishing, eating, floating (in that order) is what spring is made for! If anything will bring us rain, it'll be our April float trip....works about 70% of the time!

Sounds like fun. I'm going to be busy having my daughter, and doing what fishin' we can at Truman. I'm sure there will be a few tourny's going on there this weekend.

Don't have too much fun!!

My boy stays home this weekend, so we are going to hit the ponds at the farm pretty hard and maybe even wander over to the CA a couple miles over. Already got nightcrawlers and chicken livers in the farm. Thinking about picking up some minners on the way home tomorrow night.

You can't go wrong with marabou jigs in brown, olive, and white. Black over yellow aint too bad either.

True...but I don't know if jigs got enough life to keep the boy interested, if the fish aren't biting. Minners are cheap entertainment for him!
Hey, speaking of minners....Anybody kniow what the live bait situation like around Diggs, where the hodown is? Are there shops close by or is planning ahead necessary?

ODF, I have never fished the Niangua. Doubt I'd drive that far for a trout. Got an itch to angle some strange, would like to try Sims Valley Community Lake for a Pickerel.
I also heard-tell cut 'maters are great bait for grass carp and I'd sure like to hook into one of them moving logs with medium gear

I snagged one once while bass fishing and it was a fugging powerhouse. I could not even slow it down on it's run, then my hook came off. Wipers/Stripers are awsome to get the drag singing, but nothing compaired to the song that grassy played on my drag.

BB,
They'll eat a cocktail mater that's hangin' about 6" under a small float. And you're right, they're strong as a mofo.
Believe it or not, them things are dayum fine vittles. Just fleece 'em like you would a sucker.

We bait around the dock at LO with soured corn. It's not uncommon to hook into a 20-30 #er. I hooked one last year that felt like I had hooked the neighbor's dock....until it decided to swim off. There was no stopping or turning that hoss.

Got out to a local CA yesterday. Action was pretty slow, but the boy managed to bring in some gills for the skillet. I had 2 strikes on Sonny's...only one of them whiskers made it to the stringer...about a 4#'er.
