Is anyone hanging any stands yet?

I'm thinking about getting into a tree that I've always wanted to hunt, but it would take a lot of trimming and work to make it usable.

I also am thinking I may have to whack a good buck before mid Oct this year due to the little bundle of joy that's on it's way. Either that or get a few does early to try and satisfy my blood lust.

I moved a couple of stands and put up a ladder stand a couple weeks before trukey season. Have two new 20'ladder stands to put up. Between a friend and I we have 10 stands we put out. I still want to get a couple more ladder stands.

It'll be worth it Hobs. Those skeeters make every early archery season a yearly highlight.

Getting ready to rehang some stands in the next couple of weeks. Conducted a stand mission awhile back and found a couple that needed new plywood in the seats. Pulled them down and putting the seats in them this weekend. Putting 2 or 3 stands up in new locations that I've been wanting to hunt. The time is getting short.... Image

As always MoCraig, you will be well taken care of...my only worry is if you will be able to find your way back to your truck.

I always leave my 4th or 5th best stands just for you...

I'm just glad my best 5-6 stand locations are within minutes of my bathroom. You never know when an emergency might come up, and I'd hate to have to rely on the "Rafe Hollister Emergency Action Plan".

The "Rafe Hollister Emergency Action Plan", or R-HEAP, as it's called, is a multi-faceted approach to properly relieving oneself in a hunting or fishing situation.
1. Train your body to evacuate the bowels at the same time each day so there are no surprises.
2. Stay on a consistent diet to make #1 more effective.
3. Avoid ethnic foods (again, to make #1 more effective).
4. Carry a roll of TP, just in case.
5. Always wear a pair of socks you wouldn't mind parting with, should 1-4 fail.
6. Hunt or fish with Two Tall, since he always has a spare roll of TP in a coffee can.

I've found old t-shirts to be quite effective also, and can be added to your list of R-HEAP procedures. A sharp knife to cut a strip of clean cotton material, and a seat over a fallen log, sure brings you closer to mother nature.

Just a side note, it's sure to be noticed if you are only wearing one t-shirt, but Keith and MOCraig won't have to worry about such things.

I think I have 3 more stands to hang. These are portables. I already have one on the tree. I just need to get it proper height. The other two I am up in the air on. I may not hang one of them. The other, I know right where it needs to be. However, getting it in the tree without killing myself might be difficult. I'm really needing a tripod stand too.

A tripod stand would be VERY nice...I'm afraid it would end up in the back of someone else's truck.

Especially with the yahoo's I hunt around......

This morning, I saw a really nice stand.

It was located on a heavily used trail, right where it crossed a road. While pausing before entering the roadway, you can't help but to see plenty of sign.

One said, " Kool-Aid - 25 cents a glass." The other said, " Home made cookies, 4 for $1. "

I'm tellin' ya, kids that put a Kool-Aid / cookie stand where a fitness trail crosses a busy road are some crafty little boogers. Image
