Day one of the flood of 2006(update)

Post by Big John » July 1st, 2006, 12:14 am

Well the county finally let me in today, 10 inches of water in the yard and 4 ft of water in the basement. Lost the freezere , hot water tank, furnace and everything else in the basement. Not bad considering they said we wouldn't get any water Morons!!!!!!!!!

Sorry had to vent.

Got the pump running in my basement, and took the other pum from my garage and got it in my neighbors house they are a nice elderly couple having it rough.

Day 2 got most of the chit out of the basement including chest freezer(full of food), which I am told the insurance will not cover. Got the neighbors basement pumped out and helped clean their suff up. I cannot believe the stench from the water!!!!!!

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how relieved I am that your computer survived the flood.

Flood water gets stagnant and gross really quick. Sorry for that tragedy. I've seen some reports, but, how much area is flooded?

When I got here I moved it and the fax into the motorhome so I could get the insurance people and anyone else what they need to get things moving.

YES THE AIR IS FULL OF ROTTING EVERYTHING.

Just lost another section of the basement wall!!!!! I am think of getting my truck , wrapping a chain around the jackposts and pulling them out from under it and see if it will fall into the basement.

The last of the clean up is over, now comes the bad news. Waiting for insurance,FEMA and NYS. With a $5000 deductable the insurance will cover nearly nothing. Will try later on to put up some pics if anyone is interested in flood water ect.

I'd like to see the pictures.

I'll never forget the flood of '93. The day the Mighty MO was coming over I-70 was unreal. I was in traffic for 4 hours just trying to get 10 miles on I-70 west.
