jaytee,

The season always opens the Saturday closest to the 15th of Nov. unless the season would extend into Thanksgiving, in which the season is then bumped to the earlier Saturday which happens to be the case in 2007. So to answer your question it will open on Nov. 10th this year. Which sucks donkey for bowhunters. Image

It's not that bad. Besides you guys will be in IL at that time anyway.

Has team Aimlow ever applied for IA tags? You should.

Not sure if we will do the IL thing again next year. There are a few other options we are looking at...one of them being IA.

Iowa isn't all that it is cracked up to be.

Neither is IL.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

IA is about the only other state I'd like to hunt strictly for trophy deer. I'd like to hunt other states for scenery etc., but for deer bigger than you can get in MO, IA would be my first choice.

Also Keith, the first 9 days of November are plenty of time to whack a buck with a bow. If you need more than that, start hunting on Oct 31. I've taken deer 3 out of the last 4 years on that first week of Nov. This past year it was Oct 24th or there abouts, but that was under different circumstances. Bowhunting for the first 20-22 days of Oct is way over rated. Most of the time you're just educating the deer, imo.

What sucks for Keith@aimlow is that he has to hunt on a teacher's schedule. That is very difficult to do. He can juggle a 3 day weekend here and there, but I think that would be tough. Weather and other unforseen circumstances can screw a good weekend real quick.

Yep, that does throw a wrench into the works. I have a standing 10 day/ 2 week vacation which works out roughly from Nov 2-15, on most years. In '05 I shot my buck on the first Sunday of Nov, which then left me twidling my thumbs until gun season started.
