Mark Twain 5/4

Fished Mark Twain today from about 3pm till about 7. Caught about 30 crappie, about half of which were keepers. All on minnow 18" below a bobber about 3-4 feet off the bank. I was on foot, so worked one cove over pretty good. Not much brush in the cove. Any brush that there was was holding fish.

Just cleaned them - 5 females with eggs (very runny eggs) the rest were males. Most were right around 10" with a couple of 12" (both 12" were males). All the ones that went back were around 9" - there were plenty of that size to be had.

Water was murky, but the level does not look like it changed much since last week.

JimDog, I would say you summed it up pretty well and you fished the best part of the day. I heard it was a slow day till about 4:00, then the crappie turned on. I haven't really talked to anyone today, however the fish cleaning station is backed up with guests waiting to clean their fish. So that is a good sign. With sunny skys and a high near 80, it should be a good day fishing.

Fished 5/5 from 4:30 till dark and three of us kept 36, (9-12 inch fish). Best bite was from 6 until dark on minnows and jigs under bobbers.Found three or four locations that fish were spawning the rest were bust areas with one or two fish in a cove. lake normal pool and 63 degrees. It is in good condition and a spawn should be in full swing.
