Rage vs. Tekkan II Broadheads

I'm in the market for some new broadheads and have narrowed it down the either the Rage or Tekkan II broadheads. Has anyone had positive or negative experiences with these broadheads?

On the Rage broadheads they offer two or three blade designs. It seems like the third blade would be the way to go because you're only giving up 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for the feedback.

I used the 3 blade Snyper (same basic slip cam design) and wasn't that impressed. If I were going with a mech, it would be the Rocket Steelhead.

I haven't heard much if anything good about the Tekkans. Both them and the Rage/Snyper don't retract well in my opinion and could possibly be considered barbed.

If I was stuck with choosing Rage, the 2 blad is what I would get also. (coughsteelheadsarebettercoughcough)

Warmouth,

Do the Steelheads use a rubber washer to keep the blades forward or not?

My brother just purchased some of the Tekkan II so I guess I'll find out how he likes those. I'm torn between the Rage 2 blade and the Rocket Steelhead. I guess I could buy one of each and try them both. Image

I shoot the Wasp Jackammer SSTs and love'em. Of course when I say shoot... I don't mean shooting deer, b'cuz we all know that I haven't been that lucky... but if I was lucky enough to actually shoot a deer, I'm sure the Jackhammers would do a great job.

Yes they use the rubber band. If you are worried about the rubber band falling off in the quiver, you can slip an extra one on the arrow just behind the b-head, so if something happens to the first band, you can roll the back-up up onto the blades.

I still have a pack of 100g steelheads that I keep just incase I have a major fubar and can't get fixed blades to fly right.

I've shot the Wasp Jakhammer heads for the past three years. For the most part they're ok but I did have one instance where I think the head caused the arrow to kick at a weird angle. It could have hit a rib or something because it was a shot from almost directly above a deer.

So does that mean you may become a mech user, Craig?

Chuck Adams has started using Rage so Craig will probably pick them up, too.
