My nephew missed, but his grandpa set him up for to long of a shot, imo.

Buddy of mine and I took our boys. My son did not get one. Saw three nice bucks - two were outside of 200 yards - one was about 40 yards out, but no shot offered.
My friend's son shot this ten pointer Saturday morning at 7:20.

Jim,
Glad you were able to get them out. That 10 point looks like a good one.

Nobody else??? Shawn? Flake? Rafe?...nobody?
I guess I could have taken my oldest but there may have been few legal implications with me needing to hold the rifle and pull the trigger for her. On the flip side...I guess I saved us both some trouble because I didn?t see chit this weekend.

I took my oldest on Sunday. He's on the H.S. swim team and they had a meet in Springfield on Saturday so we left early Sunday. We were in the stand a little over an hour and had a spike about 20 yards from the tree. He opted not to shoot, although I told him it would be a good one for him. The deer finally got nervous and hopped away a little bit but still offered a shot. That was the only deer he had a chance on all day. At least he can still go during regular season.

Kristen wants to go out in the regular season. Too bad she decided not to go, cause I had a 150+ 10 pointer come out in the bean field I was set up on Sat eve. He stayed out in the open for the last half hour of light, about 150 yards.

Flake Jr. scored on a decent 8 point Saturday morning. I'll get pics up later today. It was his 3rd deer in 4 years, but his 1st buck.

Congrats to Jr. on his buck and third deer. We were wondering when you would report in on his hunt.

Man, that is awesome. Congrats to all. I love hearing about kids getting out there and being successful. While I did not go, my rifle went out with a friend and his son, and he killed a 6 pointer on his first hunt ever. They are both pretty pumped. I will likely be taking my son out for the first time next year. I can hardly wait.

to all of you exposing kids to the outdoors, that is fantastic!!!

My 14-year old daughter bagged a nice, 6-pointer (18" inside spread, 135# field-dressed weight) about 6 pm on Saturday evening during the youth hunt. It was her first hunt, and we had a great time together. We were hunting out in Gasconade County with my daughter's friend and the friend's dad on their family farm. The friend took an 8-pointer about 20 minutes after my daughter got hers. One of their favorite parts of the hunt, then, was being able to sleep in the next morning! I will post a couple of pics if someone can tell me how to do so.
