Trapped a cat

After checking traps everyday since Christmas, and missing a cat (trap triggered but no critter, probably this one that did it) I had a break yesterday, and was able to put in a new set on some very fresh sign. So here she is, 24-25lb female caught running the frozen creek in a walk through/scent post set, in a duke #2.

After checking traps, resetting and screwing arround with non-target catches I was needing a break. This was a big goal I had set for myself this year.

Also, thats a 19-20lb coon. I weighed these on a deer scale that measures in 2lb incriments, and has a bent pointer, so these weights are most likely dead on balls accurate.

Nice catch Dave. I finally got a good look at a bobcat this year. From the look of yours it must not have been very old. It wasn`t much bigger than a big house cat.

Thanks 170. This one is pretty big for a female, from what I have seen. This is only the second cat I've killed, so that isn't much to go on. It had a really big track/paw though, and I thought for sure it was a tom. I have seen three cats like you said though, not much bigger than a house cat, 7-10lbs or so.

I'd like to get the big tom that I saw last year. He's a brute.

I'd also like to point out for Toby, that those are my fleece lined Christmas pants. They're awesome.

Dave, where is you funky looking hat? About what speed would you say your traps snapped at? :rotflmao:

Triton, you're right, I should be kicked in the sack for forgetting the hat. I was almost late for work as it was though and was trying to get pics done in a rush. I still need to take off early today and get it to the MDC office before 5 this evening.

Nice catch Dave…So you’re saying its been a while since you’ve landed any good puzzy?

Yes…those are some fine looking pants. They'll surely keep your clam warm on those cold days.

Question…why is that those who trap refer to their prey as critters? Just wondering.

BTW…you should consider a compact or a youth sized rifle. That rifle is damned near as big as you are.

Yes…those are some fine looking pants. They'll surely keep your clam warm on those cold days. It will keep my clam stabber warm, thanks for worrying about my man parts, now feel free to stop worrying about them, fag.

Question…why is that those who trap refer to their prey as critters? Just wondering. Because we're Redneck idiots. I'm shocked you didn't figure that out by yourself.

BTW…you should consider a compact or a youth sized rifle. That rifle is damned near as big as you are. That is my daughter's 3lb youth .22. It's killed more trapped possums and misc fur bearing critters than you and any 3 people you know have. My CZ 452 is a superior firearm in every way, but its big and has a scope which isn't handy. That said, yes, I use a little girls rifle.
I'm really just glad it wasn't another dang skunk.

Way to go, Dave !

Pretty sporting of you to dispatch those critters with a pellet rifle. :jmplgh:

I had been using part of a broken sledgehammer handle for dispatching caught animals. But I tell you, I'm glad I had the .22 that morning. I don't want to get within head knockin' range of a pissed off bobcat after seeing it in person.

Only one possum this morning.
