Weekend hunt
Well we did end up getting out this weekend for a little bit. Headed down to the farm Saturday PM and got out to stand at around 4. Called in a lone hen turkey to 4 yards from the tree trying to get my wife a shot, but she simply came in from the wrong side for her and then decided things weren't right and she bolted out of there. I could have shot at her about 3 times, but was trying to get the misses a crack at her. Later we had a fawn come in alone eating acorns and mushrooms, had her at less than 20 yards for about 15 minutes. Craig, don't get mad at her, but she elected to pass because it was just too small, and I agreed with her. Came back out the next morning and nothing, but pulled the camera and we have a real nice mature mainframe 8 with matching kickers off the G-2s that has been in the area every day since Wednesday. My wife and Dad stayed on stand from the time I had to leave (10:30 a.m.) until dark yesterday but he never showed. I think it was just too warm yesterday. They did have some does come in behind them at 1:00 that winded them, and then had another doe come in later that they couldn't get a shot at. So she had a chance to take her first animal, and was close again yesterday, but it didn't happen. Hoping she gets a crack at that bigboy this weekend, if we can get down there!!!

Re: Weekend hunt
Seeing the birds and butterflies was the only thing in the post I could relate to.
Keep up the good work LS.

I knew you would be mad at her for not shooting the fawn, but no reason to lash out. Unlike you, Craig, she doesn't have to kill everything in sight to prove she is the alpha female.

Is that the Neanderthal in your avatar? How much whackage has he done so far? Deer whackage, not self whackage.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.
