Wow, so I may have a lead on you for a day or two! Unlikely, but possible!
Sorry about the trip buddy, it happens. Better in September than early November.

Haven't you gone every opening day for some time now, Craig?

That's understandable Samcro. When Samcro kills as much chit as Samcro does, all of Samcro's kills start to run together.

Dave, not sure what you mean. Do you mean I've gone hunting every opening day for some time or gone to Europe? I think I got stuck somewhere opening day last year, because I think it took me a day or two to get something killed. I cannot remember.
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: that's some funny chit there SC. Don'''t forget that the fuggers don't shower either and all of em stink to high heaven. Summer bus rides will gag you in Paris.

You're right on the drinking and hygene. There is hunting though, but hunts and bag limits are planned through landowners, not by the home country or district. Very different from here.

I'm sure you'll catch up in short order when you get back.

Enjoy the sights and smells across the pond.

Craig, no I haven't, but I have chatted with a few European hunters, and one who is a game manager in England as his profession.

There are some very interesting differences in game management ideas/practices in Europe, compared to the US.

One that I find interesting, is that if a property owner is not maintaining his herd to keep them at acceptable population densinties, The gov't can come in and mandate that you have 'x' amount of time to kill 'x' amount of deer, and the land owner must pay someone to reduce the population, or the gov't will hire a contractor and send the landowner the bill.

Also, Europeans almost always sell the carcass of the deer to a meat processor, or directly to a restaurant. If a hunter wants to keep a carcass, he has to pay market price for it after he has shot and dressed it.

I have seen some of the more extravagant deer stands while traveling the countryside throughout Austria. Seen plenty of deer over there as well. In Switzerland, they have some odd bird that kind of reminds me of a turkey. They hunt, but I believe you nearly have to be a member of the aristocracy to get permission. Some of the best venison I ever had was in the Italian Alps.

Europeans either hunt as part of their living, or pay through the nose to hunt and own firearms, up to 10,00 euros for a year lease. They also generally have competency tests for either in a lot of cases.

Still, their seasons are generally 5+month long for any of the 4-5 deer species that may be in each country. Basically early May-Feb deer hunting for Muntjac to Reds, and then there are wild boars too. Also, as individuals European hunters shoot a hell of a lot more deer per year than hunters here do. Game managers literally shoot hundereds per year. (and why not when they can make money on the meat?)

France even allows bowhunting, but England has outlawed it. Germany and Austria have an extensive test over every aspect of hunting/game management/history/gun ownership/shooting competency test, that may take years before one can become a Jägermeister, at which point you are allowed to choose on your own if you should or shouldn't shoot a specific deer based on age, sex, and population scenarios.

Finland and Norway have more hunters and gun owners as a percentage of the population than the US does. They have whitetail, caribou, and moose too.

I know the Italians hunt wild boar. They call it chingali or something like that once it is cooked. I tried it once at a little cafe in the Tuscany region. I'm sure RB can explain. Either way, it is saltier than chit.

I'm speaking from experience jackass. I don't doubt all that other stuff, but they do hunt, or at least there are tree stands present. I took a guy from Italy turkey hunting 3 years ago. He was talking about hunting wild boar.

One other thing... there are some hot chicks over there. I likey.

Wow, do you really think that mess I wrote came from, or was worthy of being on Google?

I'm flattered.
