Rafe's 2011 bow hunting

I went for the first time Sunday & Monday. Sunday I whacked a turkey at 12:45. Then I kilt a coon at dark. It was in the same spot as the turkey. I think it smelled the blood on the ground and stood there just a little too long.
Saw a few deer but no rutting activity as yet.
BTW, for those of you keeping score, that is my 5th archery turkey.

I'm glad somebody can kill the darn things with a bow. Are you going to try again before gun season?

I'm doing a 4-day hunt Sat thru Tues. Hope to whack a deer. Saw a nice 8 pt. Monday morning.

Good luck. I've got 7 days of vacation time between now and Nov 16th. Probably not enough time for the way things have been going.

Way it looks from weather conditions tomorrow will be a great day to be in the stand, in West Central Missouri anyway.

If I knew this rain wasn't going to hit all day I would have gladly traded siting in the wind yesterday for hunting in this cool weather today. Regardless, I'll be in a stand before the rain stops tomorrow am.

Rafe, you are a turkey killing monster.

I gotta admit to you boys that I lost a turkey in KS in April. It was a bearded hen at 25 yards. Hit her a little back of the wing and she ran off with my arrow about 6 inches into her. Never did find her. That's the first turkey I've ever lost with a bow.

Taking the 9 y.o. with me Saturday, just for that one day, then the other 3 days will be just me. Maybe I'll have some pictures to show off. Good night, all.

LMAO. I see nothing has really changed on my absence. What excuses are you using this year, Dave?

Leaving my options open for now. Had a good hunt today though. 6 does bedded within 25yrds, and no bucks. That is the way my season has been going, no antlers.

Good job on the turkey Rafe. Dang it, I'm gonna have to get out and whack a bird or two. You are gaining on me! I am stuck on 8 and have been for a couple years now! My shooting rail saved number 9 last year!!! Now get out there and get a deer!

And while you are out there keep thinking of excuses....They are beginning to sound all too familiar....May be you could just type in a number from a list. Might save your fingers from typing

An index could be handy. I'll be back after them Wed-Tues.
