Couple bucks I've been getting on film lately.
This is a little guy. 2-year old is my guess, but he has good potential at some point. Basic 8, but he's starting to develop a split G3 on his left side. Should be a good deer in a year or two:

Here is a half-way decent 3-year old. This picture is about 3 weeks or so ago. He's bigger now. I would shoot him, I think:

Anybody else getting anything worth talking about on film?

Hard to tell about the whole rack on the second pic but the first has a nice shaped rack for his age. If you think they will make it to 5 then i would let them both pass until then. If these pics are from your place they will get much better. Good genetics and nutrition in that area. If those deer hang too much in the bottoms the big farm boys will take them, all meat hunters. Good pics though.

Those guys down there kill a lot of deeer. However, every buck I was watching last year, except for one, made it through the season. I saw them all throughout the winter and spring, and have multiple pictures.
I'd say these deer do spend time down there, but the 3 year old bucks all seem to make it somehow.

Oh, and that second buck looks really good right now. Much bigger than the first buck. Not a world-beater, but a solid deer.

I can tell you that when the good ol' boys start blasting in the bottoms the older, bigger bucks run into the bluffs across the katy trail. Had a buddy that live in one of those subdivisions that backed to the bluff and the deer would be all over the place until the season was over. The bib crowd doesn't bow hunt much because they are probably out of freezer space by gun season, Or before.

Good luck with the bucks Craig. It is impressive how long a mature deer can live in high pressure areas, and still pull through.
