Doe down...well sort of...

Hunted down at the farm yesterday morning. Saw a huge doe at 8:00 that was acting really strange. She was real spooky and kept looking back toward the road. I was up and ready and then she bolted out of the area. When I was leaving the farm a little after 1:00, I found what I think spooked her. I believe this was her running mate, and as you can see, she got hung up. We drove right by this place in the morning to drop me off to go into the stand and this deer was not there, so I am convinced they were travelling together. When I found her, she was not yet stiff, and the blood on her wounds was still very wet, so I really think that by them time I found her, she had only been dead a very short time. I know it happens, just unfortunate, what a rough way to go. Lots of sign of struggle. Contacted the local agent and he is mailing my Dad a permit with a confirmation number on it to possess the animal. We got her out of the fence and dressed her out, and all the meat was still in perfect condition, so at least she didn't go to waste. Still just pretty crazy.

I'll upload a pic in a couple of minutes of one I found like that on my place. I would have thought a deer could hang like that for quite a long time before dying. It is a gruesome thing.
