On Family Day, all the troops ran out of the timber and across the field through a smoke screen, with mortar rounds going off. It was very cool. It looked like chaos at first, but they quickly got with their company and ran in formation.

Here he is (the taller one) later that day with Private Mounce in front of the Fort Jackson Museum.

Fort Jackson is in Columbia, so we visited the South Carolina State House.

While we were at the State House, Governor Nikki Haley (dark hair) was making a proclamation about Lou Gherig's Disease. She is the hottest governor since Palin.

We went to Charleston, 2 hrs away, and got to see the beach.

This is Folly Beach, just south of Charleston.

This is North Carolina on the drive home.
