The smoker has been fired up

Post by RB » March 17th, 2014, 11:42 am

The last two weekends we have fired up the smoker and did a slab of country ribs weekend before last and this past weekend did pork steaks. Used black cherry wood and pecan with a light rub. Both turned out very tender with light smoky flavor. I guess since I am the only one who post in this forum I might as well start it again this year. do any of you guys smoke meat?

Yep.....smoked some wild turkey breasts for the guys at work a couple weeks ago. A couple of them even saved a little bit to take home for their wives to try.

I think it`s time to try a new smoker. Any suggestions RB?
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

I have been looking at some of the electric cabinet types. Master Built and Bradley have some reasonably priced models some with automatic smoker disc feeder and digital controls. I have one of the cheaper Bradley electrics. it does a good job but you can't regulate the temperature so outside air temp influences the smoker temp. I had a charcoal one before and it work fine but the electric is much better for overnight smokes last 12 to 14 hrs. BPS sells both brand as do some of the big box home stores and the farm stores like Rural King etc.
