Fishing

Post by Limbshot » June 23rd, 2014, 1:16 pm

The misses and I snuck out to a local stream Saturday morning to do a little battle with the local BASS population. We had a great morning. Caught a bunch of largemouths and Kentuckies, just nothing super large. I caught one LM in the 2 pound range. Most of my fish were caught on top water with a few on spinnerbaits. She threw nothing but a crawdad colored crankbait, and apparently didn't get the memo that we were "Bass" fishing!!!

Channel cats in creeks can get really aggressive on striking crankbaits- it looks like it had been eating well.

Yeah, thats actually two different channels. She said there wasn't much doubt when they hit it. She about lost her rod on the second one he hit it so hard!!! Fun stuff. Need to go out there and actually try to catch some cats. That is six catfish in the last three trips. Three on crankbaits and three on curl tail grubs.

Perfect frying sized cats. A stringer of those would be perfect for a 4th of July fish fry.

Hobie, come on now buddy! Do you know anything about stream fishermen? I can't give away my secret spots. Then they wouldn't be secret anymore. I will tell you that this was within 60 miles of my house, in any direction as the crow flies. RB, she is ate up with it. I'd put her up against dang near anybody when it comes to fishing, she can flat catch 'em. Just got lucky I guess, she hunts too!!!
