Stockton Sat. 6/5

Post by fishnxs » June 6th, 2004, 10:25 am

Ralph and I hit Stockton yesterday. With the chance of storms we went to Aldrich to advoid any large open water to have to cross if we had to make a run for the ramp.
More or less had the place to ourselves.
Ton of crappie the size of your hand, keepers were few and even farther in between.
Water was on the muddy side and running around 80f.
Minnows were the preference with a few on a blk and red jig.
No wallys and only 1 white. Image

Estes and I went to Stockton also on Saturday, late morning to mid-afternoon, looking for walleyes. Didn't find much. Got a 16" jigging a 28' rockpile near the dam, and 5 more on bouncer/spinner/crawler at 22'-25' on a flat near Point 7. Only 2 legals.

Talked to a couple other walleye guys out there. Both boats had caught 6 walleyes each, no legals. One guy did say he had one good day over Memorial Day weekend, with a 5-pounder and a couple in the 3 to 3-1/2 range. Said they came out of less than 10 feet. He primarily fishes the Mutton Creek area, between Birch and Point 5. Tough to find legal fish out there using traditional walleye tactics right now...
