True...though I'm not sure I even made it out 8 times. I can't help I'm a man of many skills or that I get distracted easily. The fact is this winter/hunting season has been one of the more pleasurable seasons on record, for me. I may of hunted more had I not been killing chit, but I was and I got to do a whole bunch of other chit along with.

Though...to add to your argument I did spend the last weekend of the hunting season on Lake Taneycomo fishing a trout tournament. In 2.5 days I logged approximately 26 hours in the boat...catching an absolute chit ton of fish and downing an equivalent amount of beer. Depending on the day the lows dipped to -5 and the high never exceeded 15...and no, we had no heater body suits, artic boot covers or even a hot hand to speak of...though you can be rest assured I was double fisting a fishing rod and beer the entire time. The only thing that sucked balls was if you set your beer down the damned thing was frozen in minutes.

See...that’s why next year I’m hunting with you. Those three deer will die in the first weekend and I’ll been done even earlier in the season.

No doubt I spread/waste my time on a bunch of other chit but it was only my commitment & participation to my kid’s and with their activities that cut into my hunting schedule.

Speaking of hunting…you should have 12-15 killed by now? That is, assuming, you haven’t been to busy pulling your putter inside that sleeping bag.

Yes...playing with himself inside his sleeping bag. Even Samcro won't deny that one.

Toby, I read the Boswell post on Phil's site. Sounds like an awesome trip. We were in one of Phil's tournaments one time and caught our limit in the first 20 minutes. Kept catching fish all day and culling. I don't think I would have liked the weather that much though. We are headed down for our annual week in about 8 weeks. Taney is a great place to fish and have fun.

Oh, HEY,,,,what's goin' on, Dave?!? :rotfl:
Now hold on here...no reason to go there. I'm not sitting on my arse looking out the picture window. I can actually show something for my efforts even though they may not be hunting related.

I don't know if you would call what I do actual hunting. Sitting around looking at chit does get old. Samcro wouldn't last very long at it. Ifn' I let him hunt behind the house or on the HFA, I am sure something would die. Or, should I say someone?

RB…

One word…awesome, regardless of the weather. I’d bet we boated 100-150+ fish over the entire weekend. Some help from Shawn and some of the things we learned last year made a huge difference. We recognized this when some guys were coming in with 1-2 fish and we had just boated 50-60.

As with everything I do…my boat, my fishing partner and myself were well prepared for the weather. To the point is was the least of our worries. No doubt about it, there were several guys unprepared and they, their boats and their whole experience suffered. We listened to it the entire weekend.

We fished most of the afternoon Thursday and stayed out from daylight to dark on both Friday and Saturday. Each day we took a cooler of beer and a box of granola bars. At times we were catching so many fish your hands were exposed for long periods of time but that was the worst we experienced.

Never thought I’d see the day when cans of de-icer spray was required in the boat…glad we had them cause they sure as hell came in handy. Everything wet instantly froze and stuck to the boat…the fish, lures, bait, sinkers, every drip of water from the trolling motor or the anchor…even the steam rising from the water was building up on the boat. Put it this way…the dip net would freeze solid before you could lay it in the bottom of the boat.

We ended up finishing 7th but in the last hour we made a 4oz culling mistake that likely cost us 5th. Our culling board was smudged and frozen over with ice…we mistakenly culled the wrong fish. Besides this we needed a kicker fish to get us up there with the front runners. That said, a mix up with a barbless hook likely cost me a 2-3lb fish…long story but a lesson learned.
