Taxidermy - How Long Should It Take???

Post by fish » March 6th, 2004, 12:12 pm

Here is the deal. The Wiff shot a nice 130 or so inch buck 2002 season( her biggest to date). The guy said it would be done in a year. OK I can handle that. Whelp checked with him this past Novemeber, he then said about the first of the year(getting aggravated now) Checked with him after the Holidays an then he said March(now I'm getting a little PO'd) So now he just said sometime the middle of April(Now I' really Pizzed) Image WTF can a person do??? I mean it has been 1 1/2 years. He is a full time taxidermist also, not some guy doing it on the side.

You have a right to be pissed! Other than taking on more work than they can handle or not working on them enough hours there is no way it should take that long. I thought I was patient when I gave the taxidermist a head in Nov. and got it back in August. I agree it takes time for quality work and for your cape to dry properly but not that long!
Good Luck,

I think I would look into getting someone else to do the next deer head for you..

I agree it shouldn't take that long at all.

You may wanna get your horns and make sure he still has em. Then I would ask for my cape and deposit too and go find another stuffer. My boy had a part time taxidermist do his last goodun and the guy apologized all over his self when it took him 9 months. And the guy had 40 sum heads to do that year.

A year is a good amount of time, depends on the number of deer he does a year. I am not expecting mine until next gun season...

When I brought my buck in this year he still had 80 to do from the previous year...just let the taxi know of your concerns about the timeframe and I bet he will understand and be willing to work it out..if not then this might be last deer of yours he sees Image
