Good news for a change. Launced out of Mutton Creek into windy conditions at 6am. Went uplake and across to the Point 7 flats. Started trolling two bottom bouncers with nightcrawler rigs on the south end along the 20' contour.
No action until I drifted about halfway up the length of the flats. Throughout the morning I caught two keeper size (16+") walleyes, four shorts, lost two more walleyes close to the boat, and one of them may have been a keeper. Also boated five or six big bluegills that were too slow on the bait stealing. I fished three main lake points along the same 20 ft contour with no hits at all. With the overcast this morning, the fish apparently were hanging on the flats.
I talked to a couple of other boats that were out in the same area. They were catching fish, but no legal size ones.
The lake started getting crowded by noon, so I put the boat on the trailer and came home. I didn't check the water temp, but what was in the livewell felt cooler than it did a few days ago. Image
