TT - I shoot 180 grain Barnes-X Weatherby factory ammo out of my Weatherby 30-378 and I absolutely love them. I did shoot factory 165 grain Ballistics and I destroyed way too much meat with them when I shot a deer in the boiler room. I don't have that problem with the Barnes-X bullets.
How the heck do you destroy meat shooting into the boiler room ? What is this thing, a cannon ?

Well, being the constant experimenter, I had to switch teams this year and try something different.
You know I have a bit of a dirty mind, so you can just imagine what a laugh this sentence gave me.

Hobie, your next. Never lost a fight, and quite honestly the toughest fights I had were with smaller dudes. The big guys are all intimidation and never expect the power of my guns. Big boy's are vaginalopening's. In fact, the big guy's I took out never even got a punch in. They always try and fall on me and want to wrestle.

2B - To answer your first question, it absolutely explodes upon impact, to answer your second question....yes.
TT - You're a little off on your specs on the 180 Grain bullet....3450 fps out the muzzle...with 4204 foot pounds of energy at 100 yards.
Go to www.weatherby.com and look for their ballistic chart.

I meant to say 300 yards. Forkin wafflestomper.
That BT explodes because no 165+ BT pill is made to work past 2900fps... All bullets will fail under the right circumstances... a 30-378 is that circumstance in almost every case. A Barnes is probably at its threshold in that gun... I WANT ONE.

I didn't say I didn't take plenty of hits. Had a black eye or two, or three. Like a pitbull, low to the ground and mean as hell. If I am gonna fight someone, I aim to win. Been a couple years so ya never know, you feeling froggy ?

I will never purchase another rifle for big game hunting.
I purchased mine in stainless synthetic, topped with a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x50 Illuminated Recticle Scope with a Harris Bipod...paid $1,600 for the whole outfit.
