Muzzleloader and Powerbelt's on game performance

Post by Marshdog » December 8th, 2004, 1:23 pm

I purchased a new CVA Kodiak before the season this year, in the past I've shot several deer with muzzleloaders. I've owned a Knight and 3 CVA's, this gun has found it's home. I've taken 3 deer with it this season already.
The combination of the Kodiak and the 195gr CVA Powerbelt's is incredible. I've taken 6 deer with powerbelt bullets, everything from 50 yards out to a recently shot doe at 200+yards. On game performance is outstanding from this bullet. The bullets I've been able to recover have retained weight and have mushroomed nicely. The closer deer have experienced rifle like results in that the bullet fragments and destroys anything on the inside of the deer. I have not experienced a pass thru shot with any deer I've shot or my brother who uses the same bullet.
I've seen the commericials about the new TC bullet and how the Powerbelt isn't a consistant performer at 200 yards. I took a doe last weekend at 235 yards with the Kodiak and Powerbelt combination, same results the heart and lungs were absolutely jello'd and she only made it about 25 yards before piling up.
