Nope...I know I am far from a superior hunter. I do however know that my little sister could kill a buck with a rifle so I'm not ready to kiss your feet either. Oh yeah..No Offense. I'm a bit bitter about the non-stop firearms stuff if you can't tell.

I'm not bitter about it. I'm fornicating pissed off about it. Especially when I get a call from a buddy telling me that the MDC now has the deer herd in check and that the reason behind these seasons are simply to cater to special interest groups. You hearing me here Snowblower?

Re: MOCraig and Shawn's bucks.
Craig, I am glad you posted the pictures. They are a couple real nice deer. I wouldn't have said a word other than to defend myself at your unprovoked stabs at me for not killing a deer yet. If I had shot one of those deer with a rifle I would post them also. I didn't get my rifle out this year so I can't blame anyone but myself for not shooting one during rifle season. I guess if it had paid off to bowhunt instead it would have all been worth it, but as it turned out, no such luck. Don't be ashamed of your rifle kill...even though Shawns is a little bigger.

He was right. They would have made a couple nice bow kills. I am happy for the both of you but make no mistake. Rifle kills just don't count in this crowd. Nice bucks, It's just too bad they were not take with a bow.
to you both.

Re: MOCraig and Shawn's bucks.
I posted that after you made the comment about me "not killing chit" on the arrow wrap thread and other places as well. You seem to want to harp on that for some reason. To be holier than thou I will have to accomplish a hell of a lot more than I have to this point, but to defend myself for not killing a deer period is rediculous. You know as well as I do that it is quite easy to not kill deer with a bow if you are being choosy about what you shoot. Blowing opportunities, yeah ridicule me for that for sure, but just "killing something" is not something I'm going to do to keep people from making stabs.

Re: MOCraig and Shawn's bucks.
MoCraig, I passed on at least two bucks this year as big as yours WITH A BOW. Shawn's would not have been passed on. Not knocking that you shot it, I have one mounted that is pretty close to that one. Notice I have not killed a buck this year, yet. Keith and I are just getting a bit more pissy about it as the season starts slipping away. So cut us a bit of slack. I'll get over it, won't be the first time I have had to.

I passed up a bow shot on a 135" 8ptr... course it was 40 yards through limbs... but I passed it up none the less.

Re: MOCraig and Shawn's bucks.
I wouldn't have passed on MoCraig's deer with a bow, and I may not have passed on it with a rifle. That picture of it in the back of the truck makes it look really good. I would like to be of the caliber of hunter to pass on 130" deer, even 120" deer on a regular basis. I'm not there yet with a bow, but I think I have reached it finally with a gun. It is kindof difficult on the HFA to pass on deer because it is a small piece of Heaven, but, last year I went deerless with a rifle. Now, to the other issue at hand; each of those deer would have been better bowkills. There is no way one can compare the thrill of the hunt and everything that goes with it when talking about bowhunting. My last 4 deer with a bow have been between 118" and 135". Only one of those has not excited the heck out of me and that is because I knew before I released that I was doing a very foolish thing. When I shot the big deer with a rifle the last evening of rifle season, I was like "Just another day at the park". Didn't even get excited enough to go down to the deer. If I had, what ultimately did happen would not have. But, if I could have seen the quality of deer it was, initially, I might have gotten a little more excited. I just don't know. Now, I can honestly say, I am still doing the big buckle shuffle after finding him on Saturday. But, I have decided to lay the gun down from now on. A bold statement and I hope I can stick to it. But, those are my thoughts on this. The Snake has spoken.

Hey Dab, like the Cafe is such a dynamic place??
Certainly not the same old stuff over there. The big difference with that place is... all the decent deer killers are over here!

PS you ARE at the point that you should be passing on 130 inch deer. You are just not willing to accept that yet. You will, hopefully sooner than later.
