Try begging someone to take you hunting before you invest a fortune in equipment. A license, gun and a few shells will help get you started. Good luck, bruce

I took DH72 huntin on Sat. We went to a lil outta the way spot where I've been killin a few birds. Got everything set up just right, weather looked to be perfect, and then... we didn't see a single freakin duck!

It's cool Hobie. Still had fun. I learned how to set up and everything. I might head to Scrivner CA down in Russelville and try killing a few ducks.
I picked out my Lab puppy Sunday. He's a whiteish yellow. I'll be picking him up the Sunday after Christmas. Definitely looking forward to that.

On my way home, I drove past a lake and there were at least 100 ducks on it. Don't know if it was a private lake or what, but at least we know that there are ducks around.

Thanks for the informative thread. Refreshing to see one about beginning duck hunting where the initial poster doesn't bleed out from all the cuts.

dh72, have hunted the scriver area before with poor results. Lots of better duck areas in central mo. but it is a good spot for woodie or gadwall but that has probably past for this year. try the river. bc

Re: Want to get started duck/geese hunting
I'm just now catching on.
I haven't been back there to see if there are any ducks on the lake. The geese are still around, however. I see them flying in at dark. I wouldn't mind killing a goose, but I don't know what I would do with it once it was dead.
