Federal agents search for bald eagle shooter

Post by horntagger » March 12th, 2004, 2:08 am

DEXTER, Mo. -- U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agents have offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who recently shot a bald eagle. Missouri conservation agent Russell Duckworth was stopped a few weeks ago by drivers who spotted a bald eagle that couldn't fly south of the Otter Slough Conservation Area. Duckworth and others found the bird with one broken wing and shotgun pellets in the other.

Duckworth says three bald eagles have been shot in about a year's time in the region, located in Stoddard County in southeast Missouri.

The bald eagle has been a national symbol of the United States since 1782

OO man your missing out... I was lucky enough to have one nest for a year about a mile north of me...

The are very beautiful and gracefull birds..

For anyone to want to shoot such a bird is beyond me...
It's a true disgrace for a human to shoot one..

I seen one the other day in a field in Dexter yesterday..Setting ontop of a tree watching the field.

Found with shotgun pellets in it, near a duck park. Hmmmm.... think someone got tired of the eagle beating them to the ducks? Image

Very real possibility, DR! There were posts on the old site posting up pics asking "what did I shoot" or talking about how they shot something that wasn't intended, etc.. Image
