You are one lucky bastage Counts. I thought I was lucky until you told me you hunted 6 days a week.

170, I paid over 500 dollars for that gun. For those of you that know me, I like to keep my stuff nice. Also, I am a tightass. I told a fellow the other day I would give him that gun, but he told me not to as maybe I can give it to one of my kids or grandkids someday. So, I'm gonna buy him one of them.

Since 2B has directed this post to me, I decided that I would score my last 9 deer kills (gross & net) and see what I would get. They range from 110" to 154". Gross antler score was 1173" for an average of 130.3". Net antler score was 1131 for an average of 125.6. A couple of those deer are sammiches as you guys well know, but many of them are fairly decent deer. I thought about including my 145" 10 pointer, but it made no difference. Plus, I killed him in 1988. I killed a bunch of sammich fork horns and stuff when I had only the MTNF to hunt. Since 2B is making it a point to beat my brow, I had to chest thump a bit as well. In the past few years, I have made every effort to better myself with respect to shooting good deer. But, a fellow is gonna make a mistake every now and again.

Snowfluke,

FYI...I have a subscription to North American Whitetail, and Buckmasters so yeah I guess I do know what a big buck looks like. Image Image

I`m just kidding about the Buckmasters thing.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

2B - Since PMS posted his, my last 6 bucks average scores were 134" they totalled 804" total inches, and I can guarantee that I wouldn't pass on a 130" 8 point, they just don't come around that often.

You people amaze me. All I have seen in here is a bunch of guys that can't seem to set standards for themselves, and are concerned about the type of deer they shoot because they will be ridiculed by others on this site. That is insane. Nobody should no the area you hunt like you do. We are all hunting different parts of the state with numerous different elements effecting us and the deer we hunt. Set a bar for yourself and maintain that. I guarantee you my level of success will be different than that of a guy that hunts private land up north, or around St. Louis townships, or in Illinois, Iowa or anywhere else in the Midwest. I set goals for myself and try to reach those goals. I don't care what all the rest of the people hunting the state think and I don't understand why anybody should. I think some of us need to sit back and appreciate what we have here in Missouri, because as a group we seem to be taking it for granted. Don't down a guy for taking a fine animal, even if his definition of a fine animal is different than yours, because you can never be sure the environment he is hunting in, or the time he has in the field. I don't think any animal taken with archery gear is any less significant than any other. Taking an animal with archery gear is a challenge, no matter what it is.

I see where you are coming from Hobiecat, and thansk for the tip. In that case, doing anymore guided duck hunts anytime soon? I haven't been seeing anything for deer lately, I figured I could go duck hunting with you and see just as many ducks as I have deer Image.
