I agree. In Stl. Co. in the last two years, I have seen fewer does. Still a bunch of them though.

Yeah Counts, there are still a few around, but I know of a lot of folks that are complaining these days. I just don't know the answer and was wondering about your thoughts on it.

I think we are taking too many does down here also. Howell and Oregon counties had unlimited doe tags this year. All the counties around us are limited to two. Wish they would limit us to two. MDC says people won't use much more than two, a lot of guys will kill every one they see as long as season is open down here thought. I think we had more deer 4 or 5 years ago then we do today.

Times are changing. We will see. People will get tired of whacking them so hard. I have full confidence in the MDC. In my time hunting, they have made things better and better.

I hear you Counts, that is why I think the HFA will be fine. I'm just sitting back contemplating the future and all. Two of the top dogs have property adjacent to me, so, I should be okay.

Altonite, that is what I am saying. It was unreal the last 4 or 5 years. The last 2 have been very different. I'm not seeing any more or any fewer bucks, but as a whole, my deer sightings are down a bit.

I'm still seeing the same amount of deer around here, if not more, and I'm seeing more bucks too.

They herd up in the late winter ( like you boy's don't know that ) either you won't see any, or you will see a bunch. I think they are starting to herd up some.

Down in this part of the state, I have been told that the good bucks will get back in the thickest, nastiest brush they can find, like dense cedar thickets and such, and they will stay tight in that cover until after dark then move to feeding areas and then be back for daylight. They seem to try and bed relatively close to the bedding areas making it critical to set up as close to their bedding areas as possible. If I was hunting up north, I'd be looking real hard at any standing corn fields. Just my opinion, haven't hunted up there much though.

Yep, deer generally bed really close to their bedding areas. Image Image

Hookset, Shows your location as the Mo Wilderness, is that the town or are you just out in the boonies somewhere? If any one knows where Wilderness is on this board except me I'd be surprised. Cept maybe for PS. Image

I'd say it is on J Hwy north of Bardley a bit and back toward the west.

Heck yes I know that one. I fish the Roubidoux Creek right near there quite a bit in the summer!
