Italian autoloader question

Post by coyotewhacker » January 21st, 2005, 10:24 pm

Last year I acquired what was obviously an Italian made 12 gauge autoloader. The only brand markings on it are "Tradewinds, Tacoma Washington". On the receiver itself is a script letter "F" inside a shield. The Tradewinds company is now history, but my shotgun has a broken firing pin, and nobody in the gun business has been able to track one down. Was wondering if anybody here knows somebody who might be of assistance in this area....and if that can't be done, perhaps you know a very good machinist who could use the original firing pin as a model and machine a new one.
It's a pretty shotgun, has seen very little use, and has classic Italian styling, but it is very scary to see the front half of the firing pin come rushing forward onto a chambered round, and the pin is about two inches in front of the bolt.....very scary indeed. Any help would be greatly appreciated...up to and including "how strong is silver soldering if a new firing pin absolutely, positively cannot be obtained."

Disregard above request for info.....Bass Pro Shop has a new in-store gunsmith, and he can make the firing pin for me. Probably have to sell a couple of classic guns to pay for the firing pin, but what the heck!
