PMan...if you are in the market for a pair of chest waders, you should stop by the catalog return store of that big bass fishing store in Springfield. They have (usually) a good selection back in the left hand corner by the shoe section. They are normally half off the regular retail price, but the day I got mine they had marked them down another 25%...the Redhead neoprene ones are nice...keep you dry and insulate reasonably well. Originally got them to fly fish at Bennett Spring, but now use them mainly for seining in cold water.

I keep checking there every time i'm in Springfield--Maybe they will have the right size one of these times. I have a pair--but they are the boot-less type--not worth a darn for enything other then staying dry. You think you slip and slid down on the finley---You should se me skootin across them ledges with BB on the other end of the net!!!!!! Image

If you're going to wear those bootless types, better get some felt sole boots to go with them. Nothing like body surfing down the river in cold water! BB's like me...got a low center of gravity to help anchor him to the bottom. He also knows where the little dips in the bottom are....I don't, so he gets the deep end of the net and I stay up in the kiddie pool end. If his predictions are correct, the really large slicks should be moving in real soon. Some of those bad boys have a nasty disposition and pushing a jig hook through their nose only makes 'em mad.

Next time we take the seines out, I will let a couple of local guys know and maybe we can run two nets at a time.

I think Ozark wanted to go, and maybe we can get another volunteer....sometimes you get a bucket full; sometimes the bounty is not so good. The main thing to remember is that the wild minnows seem out outfish the commercial bait by a wide margin when the fish are biting.

Hunter 91.....as you come up the hill toward the Wagon Wheel, you will pass Bob's Bait Shop on the right. We'll be another couple hundred yards ahead on the right. Just tell the nice man in the black SWAT uniform that you are with us and I'm sure you will get a warm welcome.

CW,

Let me know on the next minnow outing. I have some waders and being in springfield I am not far away from the James.

Trantams Bait is open today. I got some pretty nice shiners for $1.99. Don't want to wait around for sleepyhead Bob to open tomorrow.

I called the Wagon Wheel Cafe and let them know we're coming. They like us very much, and they appreciated the heads up. Y'all may call me by my new "Wagon Wheel" name...

Pat Fisher is planning to see us afterward. (Steve will certainly be fishing with us.) I know I'm going to launch at Beaver, but some may head up to Swan to launch. Whatever, what say we plan on meeting up at Fishers' place around 3:30 to compare notes, enoy a little food & drink, etc. That sound OK?

H91, it'll be the place with all the boats in the front yard! They're on Hwy O (that's the road to Beaver Creek launch--joins Hwy 160 at Kissee Mills), about 2 miles down, past the S-curve, on the west side of the road, just past--oh crap, what's the name of that little road? Single-story blue house with a hedgerow out front, gravel drive and detached garage. Coming from Beaver Creek, it's exactly 2.2 miles from the ramp.

Somewhat got family plans for the afternoon but may try to swing over for a minute or two after fishing.

Them there "fish" look kinda stubby for walleyes, but I guess they will work out OK in the skillet or deep fryer.
Mark....we seine in the Finley, outside Ozark. I don't think I would even consider eating a fish that was caught with anything that came from the James River. Up where we seine, the Finley is real pretty and not all messed up like the James. Will holler at ya.

Ain't none of this boy gonna call none of you guys "Hon"...
You trolling, PD, or just happy to find some good chow that early in the morning? If you was a true breakfast facilitator, you would be talking to the manager at Hooter's and have them open early....real early...some morning when we have a get together, and have a truly memorable breakfast of beer and Three Mile Island wings.
Of course, if Tood shows up, we'll have to up the order to no less than 200 wings.....how can a scrawny guy like him eat that many wings and wash 'em down with at least eight large ice teas..??? He doesn't take up that many cubic feet of space. Anyway, none of the wings went uneaten, so that worked out well.

Hey - Those are white crappie. I've been fishing Bull Shoals steady all year, and haven't seen anything but black crappie since about June. I've been wondering where the whites were hiding.

I'll have to have a talk with you at the W.W. tomorrow morning.
