I saw that, too, MOCraig, but I've just learned to interpret what 2B means. Pointing out his misspelled words and improper grammar would be a full-time job.

Suburban deer? Are those kind of like Explorer deer...only of the Chevy persuasion?

Go to your favortie campground or big recreation use area, like Longview Lake. Those deer haven't had hunting pressure on them in their or their momma's life time. They don't have a reason to be scared, so why would they be. They just haven't had to learn that lesson.
Take for example the deer I had in my yard while my bbq grill was going. Normally you would think the smell and activity would scare him. But then think, how many times has that deer been chased by a bbq grill? Then why should he be scared of it?
You all just need to think more like a deer.

I also think urban deer expect to see people in certain areas. In the big Jackson Co parks, you can see deer within 70-100yds of folks having picnics and playing radios, soccer games, softball games etc. That is just becuase it is a common activity in their habitat, no different than a tractor mowing hay in far north Mo farm land. Common occurances to the deer, and they have learned it means no harm to them, so they aren't scared.

I have to admit. In the backyard I have hunted in, if the deer that come through there bust me. Even though they still come through the same draw, they change how they come through and actually start hunting me. If that happens I just lay off for a week or two and they get right back into comming down our favorite path ( under my stand ).

Re: City Deer and Dumber than Open Country Deer
This ain't rocket science. Deer, like any other creature, will acclimate to it's environment and things that are in that environment. Take country deer...I've had deer come out of the woods and feed within a few yards of working tractors. They don't pay it no never mind because they are used to tractors. But you let the motor pitch change or stop the tractor and the deer goes on point. Any "unusual" movement and the deer flags and books. City deer are just used to activitty and people being near and not being a threat. They are "citified", but don't know if that necessarily translates to "dumb". But an urban hunt would be like shooting fish in a barrel. Ain't that right TTTim?

If a deer crosses the path I came into my stand from in the country. The deer will at least stop and take a sniff, depending on how mature or wary. They will flat out run the heck out of there.
In the urban areas, if a deer crosses my path. They typically don't even drop there head, let alone get spooky.

In St. Louis County, where I hunt, the deer must have a better school system.

Note to self - make sure and pick up one of the new Mossy Oak "Weber" coveralls in hickory scent-lock before next bow season
