Living in Florida for 10 years =>

Post by 2BHNTN » March 15th, 2004, 7:28 pm

Most the deer I saw were the size of a dog 100-110 lbs was a good deer. Killed several deer, one buck that was a nice florida deer or basket rack 8pt here in MO. I hunted Green swamp, everglades, Tri-lakes, Avon Park, and private ground west of Sabastian Inlet near Melbourne. Killed lot's of hogs as well. Then I would spend all my vacation hunting in the midwest ( Illinois ). So I up and left, the reason you ask ? Purely because I missed the fall and chasing the monster bucks. As some of you know, I love the Ivory.

I do miss florida and what it has to offer... especially the fishing, the hogs, the thongs on the beach.

This dude was taken according to a buddy of mine. Not more that a couple hundred yards from where I used to hang my stand. Two years after I moved back up here.

2B,
Did you get a CCW permit while living in Florida?

Yep, he was a better deer hunter, obviously. I will take lucky over good any day of the week though. Image My point of the picture was very few people realize that big deer can be taken in Florida. This deer is not of the key deer strain obviously.

GoGop,

No, I didn't but there was a month or two when they first past the right to carry that contained a loop hole. Swear on the bible, folks were strapping on sidearms and walking down the street with em like it was the 1800's. Pretty wild and folks went nuts about it.

2B,

I was born and raised in the "Sunshine State". Central Florida was my stomping ground but I can remember deer hunting when I was younger using dogs and then coming up here and people would look at you weird when I would try to explain how I used to hunt.

That is a monster for Florida. Back in the 80's I don't think you would see a deer that size where I hunted.

Hey Webster,

Glad to have a fellow Floridian here. I grew up in Illinois but sure learned to love the swamps ( cept the mosquito's ). Image

You know exactly where I am talking about then. Tri-Lake's just south of lake wales was one of my favorite hunting grounds. You ever hunt that area or on Avon park ?

Everytime that John Anderson song comes on " Seminole wind " I get kinda choked up. Image

Danny: No wonder I couldn't remember who you were when I saw you last. I knew you looked out of the ordinary. Florida folks are a bit stunted. Just look at Dennis. TOS

2B, Didn't mind the mosquito's it was the Iron and sulfur in the water. YUCK!!! I know the area but never hunted it. My father and I always hunted around Chiefland. I grew up in Inverness, Fl. just north of Ocala.

I really miss fishing for reds or sea trout in the gulf, buying all the seafood right off the boat.
