Powerdive: I won't stay long down here you can rest assured. I used to not like their music either. But, they play some very good tunes I must say. Now, their lifestyle, I'm a bit more conservative than those boys are/were. PS

BTW, I caught my first walleye last year. I used to catch sauger left and right growing up. We used to take a couple weeks each summer and camp/crappie fish on Kentucky Lake.

PS, stick around. Walleyes can be fun, and the season is always open--no full year's gradual descent into madness like with certain other outdoor activities.

How'd ya catch that walleye?

Powerdive: I sold my boat a few years back so my fishing amounts to catching spawning crappie in a local lake, going with my dad every now and again, or bumming a ride from JT or TTTim down Truman way. That, and wading for smallies when I head south for a weekend. I just don't have much time to fish as bad as that sounds. Now, the way I caught that walleye is this; as you are heading out of Sterret Creek on Truman, you will run across this old road bed or something where the water comes up to about 9 or 10 feet from 25-30. Much like the one that runs the edge of the spillway near the dam only much more shallow. We were bouncing jigging spoons for whites and hybrids in the middle of the afternoon. I lucked into a walleye. I can't say much for catching it other than I was pretty happy as it was my first walleye. PS

I didn't know if you'd kicked off or went off to vegetate somewhere Glad to see you here. Last I heard you were still tryin to sell your house in Iowa and tryin to find a storage unit big enough for that Lund of yours. I drive by your town every week headin to my girlfriends house in Nixa. Hopefully will get to meet you eyeball to eyeball sometime this summer. Later.

I used to catch those KY lake Suager also. I lived on Jonathon Creek at Town and Country Resort. Where did you spend most of your time?

I probably ran 1000 miles on Ky and Barkley lakes.

Just good to hear that I'm not the only one here with Suager experience.

Lakebumb: I wouldn't say that we went chasing the sauger, we would always catch several by accident while crappie fishing. We fished in Cypress Bay, Panther Creek, and some in Blood River. Now, if my memory serves me right, we caught most of the sauger in deep water right off this point out from Piney Campground (LBL). There used to be an island of sorts right off of that point and we caught a lot of crappie deep right in there. That is where we ran into the sauger for the most part. I recall losing a fish there that I never saw. But, to this day I would have swore it was a 50 pound whatever. PS

We used to catch some while crappie fishing also but during the summer we would troll for them on the flats just north of Blood River and the flats south of the bridge near Kenlake state park. Sauger seemed to be much more cooperative than these Walleyes do.
