Upper Bull Shoals 3-18-04

Post by Tablerock » March 19th, 2004, 12:49 pm

Fished Beaver Creek from about 3:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M.
Lots of boats and lots of shore fisherman. We never had a bite and saw absolutely no one catch anything. We talked to a few people and they were all striking out...
Ran up to Powersite Dam area and fished until about 8:30 P.M.... Jonesey lost a minnow off a jig from one good bite. That was it.... Zippo... No water running. Not even a trickle. The floating debris is now gone from River Run up to the Dam but there is quite a bit of debris from RR down to Barker.... It's pretty clean from Barker on down to Beaver Creek....The upside...We ran from the Dam to Beaver Creek without even a jacket on. It was nice...!!

TR...you went right past us and never knew it. BB and I were in the tailrace on the Forsyth side until almost 9:00. He caught one decent white...that was it! I had a couple of short strikes on a tipped jig, but not hookset. We tried the sandbar at the head of Barker and never had even a tap.
Did you see the two bass boats fishing together as they came into Pot Hole? They came flying up past RR, got even with us, powered down, then cut right in front of us and started fishing the bank right where a husband and wife were fishing from the bank. I guess rudeness never goes out of style. We just reversed the boat and worked back toward RR. Sorry to hear about your conditions, but it was the same all over. No current at all above Swan. We graphed three or four down by the bridge as we came in to load up, but nothing really fishable. I gotta be out of town for three or four days to let BB catch up on his gardening and landscaping chores, but will be back early next week. Maybe we can get a few boat together and go after 'em gunnel to gunnel.

CW & BB....What boat were you guys in ?? The only boat I saw
after dark in the tailrace was not on the Forsyth side.
Was that you guys ?? Jonesey had never been all the way up in there so we made a loop around the boulder pile...It was real quiet compared to the last time I was up there....
I was tryin' to watch for you guys but all I saw was old people.....hahaha......

yeah...old people...that was us. We were pretty close to the mouth of Pot Hole, and would have been on your left on your way out. There was one boat that came out with a pair of "headlights" on the front. Whoever was in it kept shining the bank on the right (headed toward RR) looking for something. Then over the next half hour or so, two or three more solo boats came by motoring real slow. I have a very small, but very powerful LED flashlight I keep handy for night fishing, and I flicked it on whenever a boat came into range. Worked like a champ. FYI...I'm putting that "old people" remark in my little book...someday, somewhere, when you least expect it....................

BB CW
you two are like Frick&frack falling around in the rocks not catching any fish. Tom and I watched for about an hour then got out of there before we had to call 911 to come get you out of the water. I guess you did no good did not see a report.
