Truman Tailrace
Well, aren't you folks just the friendliest bunch! Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I can sure tell I'm back in the Ozarks. Well.. a few more warm days and nights this week along with a couple of nice warm rains have the trees budding, the red mushrooms popping and last but not least, the fish really biting. The crappie have just started showing up in the warmer creeks which means very soon we should see them coming up on the banks. The whites and hybrids have been hitting well, especially in the evenings when they are pretty much every cast for an hour or more before the sun goes down on XL pearl Slab Hunters. Catfish have continued well with some finding the big blues this week in the 30-45 lb range, along with lots of smaller ones. The best walleye story I have is of a 9 pounder caught in a shad net (and of course returned unharmed). We've likely seen the peak of the walleye bite and now they will slowly taper from here. While this morning is gray and windy, the forecast for Fri.- Sun. is sun and mid 70's. Don't forget the sunscreen or the stringer, it should be a big weekend!
Re: Truman Tailrace
Any one know what she is talking about when she refers to "Slab Hunters"? I am thinking real seriously about heading down there tomorrow after work and fishing thru the night.
A clear conscience is the sign of a bad memory.

Correction on the walleye, I talked to a guy this morning who caught a 6 and a 7 pounder yesterday and said they still had eggs in them. Yes, Slab Hunters are here at The Station but they were first made by a gentleman up the street named Duane. Give them a shot, they are really the hottest new bait going.
