Goggleye?
Goggleye?
As a kid we used to fish for Goggleye and catch quite a few but it has been a while. Is the early part of spring the best time to catch Goggleye or is later in spring, and what is the best method?
Good Luck,

It's still too early on the Little Piney.....or it was Thursday the 25th. I'd say later in the spring.

We didn't catch any on the Niangua last weekend and its not because the Grandkids didn't try. I think Vic's right, the're probably still in their winter holes.

Re: Goggleye?
I fished Spring River for a few hours today. I caught 1 small goggleye on a small grub. However I did manage to catch quiet a few smallmouth on swimmin minnow.

Used to wait untill the dogwoods were starting to bloom. Their usualy a pretty good indicator of the goggleyes being ready to rumble. I usualy had the best luck and best fish early in the spring fishing blakemores(crawdad colored) below the riffles where they like to nest.
Later on dropping a worm into brushpiles in deep holes works pretty good.

Thanks to all, I belive we used yellow beetle spins and the small plastic worms with the spinners attached when we caught them on bed.
