I think it would be interesting for the PWT or FLW to have a "one big fish" tournament. You weigh one fish per day; biggest one wins. Imagine how the strategies would change!
To my mind, in SW Missouri waters, bottom bouncing and jigging would disappear, at least in the warmer months. Those are more "numbers" techniques. You'd see a lot of crankbait trolling, and some livebait rigging too. Come winter, it'd be the opposite: jigs/minnows and suspending stickbaits.
I guess what it comes down to, is "fishing for numbers" vs. "fishing for size." If YOU had to catch "one big fish" at this time of year, what would you do and where would you fish?

Re: One big fish
It must be real slow down to the print shop.....but since you ask....I would slide down to Greer's Ferry Lake and sit on the thermocline all day and all night. For as long as it takes to hook "the big one". I would use either live night crawlers (not the fake ones I will be dunking this time next week) or large live minnows on a single Tru Turn hook leader....a single small foam barrel float....no beads or spinner blade. And I would fish it Powerdive style....sit there and let the big one come to me. The number of monster walleyes in Greer's Ferry Lake is certainly down, but there still has to be a few true world class fish in there, just as there is in lower Bull Shoals.

Look for 'em on the graph and hit 'em in the head with a spoon. That's the way my only big one came.
I heard a bit of gossip that a feller caught a 12.2 in the same area Lakebumb and I fished. I think he caught it yesterday, on a piece of hand-poured plastic on a carolina rig. Those are the only sketchy details I know, but it was the same area where I caught my biggun a few years ago.

Honda 10kw gas generator, super quiet in-the-water exhaust system, 200 ft. #6 solid copper wire (coated), two old three foot diameter iron wagon wheels. I'm told it works best at night.
