How often do you buy a new bow??

Post by fishin » July 27th, 2005, 12:19 pm

Trying to get some discussions started but I am lacking topics at the moment. I have been shooting the same set up for about 7 years at this point, what about everybody else?

I have been braggin for the last couple months about my new Alleigence for the past three months. I would still be shooting my Mathews mq32 that was 7 years old if it hadn't been stolen out of my garage last december.

Your new bow sounds really nice. I have been shooting the same Hoyt for ever. heck, I am still using the same rest, sights, stabilizer, and arrows as the original set up and it still does over 300 FPS.

I shot a browning wheel bow for almost 10yrs. I cracked a limb bracket, and bought my current Martin Jaguar, this will be my 5th season with it.

I have the same accessories as I had on my old browning, the only exception being a newer stabalizer. The sights, rest, and string silecers are from a different era Image, but still work. Image

I'm on my 4th bow over about 20 yrs. I guess that pretty well means I shoot one for about 5 yrs, although the math doesn't work out exactly like that...

First bow was a Bear - Black Bear. Had it for 8yrs, 1986-1993.
Second bow was a Jennings - Gail Force. Had it for 7yrs, 1993-1999.
Third bow was a Fred Bear - Pursuit. Had it for 5 yrs, 1999-2004.
Fourth bow is a Parker - Phoenix 32. I got it last July.

Never had a problem with any of'em. Prolly could still be huntin with the first one. I just got the itch for somethin new each time.

I have owned probably a half-dozen different bows since 1980. But, I have owned 2 different bows in the last 5 years. So, I really don't know how to answer this question.

I shot a Hoyt Pro-Vantage for some time. I killed a few deer with it.

I don't remember which model I had. But, mine was the grayish camo pattern and not the brown like I wanted. But, it shot well. That was the last fingers bow I ever shot.

My next bow was an XI Ultima. I shot it for nearly 9 years. I killed a chitload of deer with that bow. I mean a lot.

I have never bought a new bow. I have a used Parker Hunter Mag that I traded for and I am happy with it.

I don't like the looks of the riser on the AR bows.

XI went belly up I think. I did like my Ultima. First machined riser bow I ever owned.
