ground blinds

Post by Walter » September 16th, 2005, 9:42 pm

I purchased a Doghoues blind, and was wondering if any of you have had any success using a blind like this.

p.s.

Can I use mechanical broadheads thru the mesh windows?

I have a ground blind similar to the doghouse, and I have had real good luck with it, especially with turkey. Yes you can shoot through the mesh with broadheads. I use gator expandables, and have no flight differences.

I have one and I love it but my mechanicals will not go through the mesh without opening up.

I found mine to be useless for turkeys unless you set it out in advance, on the other hand deer don't seem to mind it at all.

That's funny. I always heard just the opposite. I ain't never used one myself, but I had always been told the turkeys din't mind but ya had to set it out for a while for the deers to get used to it.

I always do things just a little bit different than everyone else. I had two does walk up to the window last year about 10 minutes after I set the thing up on the edge of a field.

Along the same lines I set it up to turkey and it seemed to stick out to the turks like a sore thumb.

Obviously it is just my experience, my wife hunts and thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread and I only really like it if it is pissin down rain or it is windy and cold.
