Who wears the pants?

Post by LadyAngler » September 27th, 2005, 10:38 am

Due to the overall lame atmosphere, I pose a question...

Dave and I were having a rather interesting discussion of who "wears the pants" between us. It was interesting to hear how the "power distribution" is viewed.

Which leads me to ask... Who wears the pants in your marriage/ relationship? Do you, does the wife... or are you like us, Image and the wife does, but makes you believe you do?

When the kids are in bed, neither one of us is wearing pants.

In all seriousness, when we have a decision to make, we discuss it and in the end, I make the last call. Both points of view are considered and usually, she & I see things pretty much the same way. I would never do anything that affects our marriage, kids, or home life without her input. Anything regarding the business is just the opposite. She requests my opinion and considers it before making the final call.

I have lived under the blissful false assumption that I were the pants now for 11 years. Make no mistake, I am not the policy maker in our household. I am merely the policy enforcer. I've seen the bosses job, and I don't want it. Image
McLintock, great party, but no whiskey. We go home.

Wife lets me have last call, unless she does not agree.

I like to think it is a 50/50 deal with household maintenance and recreational decision making. When we do come to a disagreement, the one that wants to argue the most for it usually wins.

We are pretty much a 50/50 split though I usually get to make the final decision so there is someone to blame. Like C&C though she is more the household and kid policy maker and I am merely the bad guy AKA enforcer of said rules.

I am surely the head of my household, but my wife is the neck that turns the head.... Image Image
