Ifn' you wish to kill the buck of which you have been talking about, my thoughts are you had better be out there tomorrow. After this front passes, every buck in MO will be moving to some extent refreshening scrapes, etc... Just my thoughts.

What front? It's supposed to 65-70 degrees for the next week.

BTW - I had deer out in front of the house at 12:30 pm today, so they were out feeding early today.

65 degrees is fine by me. Low in the upper 30s lower 40s is ideal. One of my best deer came the first week of November when the temperature was 82 degrees. This rain and somewhat cooler temperatures will have the bucks moving tomorrow. You can take that one to the bank.

I know. Work is killing me, but since I'm going to be off two weeks starting the 5th, I'm pretty much stuck in the office this week. I hunted 10/18-30 more than I planned, and with the hot weather this week (more like next 10 days) I'm going to have to rest the place whether I like it or not.

Looks like rain Sat 11-5 as well, so that's my next best chance.

Anyone besides the Aim Low crew get any excitement this weekend? I heard a buck fight in the distance Sat morning, and had a couple doe/sammich buck encounters, but haven't seen my buck from a stand since I passed that shot in the rain on 10-22. I'm still kicking myself over that.

If I could pick one day a year to hunt, it would be late pre-rut after an all night rain. I do prefer cooler temps though.

If you consider getting to look at fall colors from inside a hospital room excitement, then I had a heck of a lot of it.

I hope all is well, and you just had another routine Snakely mishap.

PS was getting snipped over the weekend, so he won't have to worry about another baby during the rut.

I hunted pretty much all day friday. Came home for a couple of hours during the middle of the day to have lunch.

The morning, the deer were moving everywhere. Saw three different bucks - all chasing does. Nothing spectacular. Friday evening I saw nothing. Zippo. Nada. Was on my stand from 2pm till dark. I don't know what was up - this is the same stand where I saw 38 deer in 2 hours about a week and a half earlier.

My excitement came Sunday evening. I caught a glimpse of the deer that I have affectionately labeled "that big forkin deer". He was runnin with 3 does.. Never got within 100 yards, but I watched the group for over 30 minutes. He was just kinda "flirting" with them. He looked pretty interested, but they weren't having any of it. But I was encouraged to see that he is still in the area. I am off work all week next week. That sucker is goin down....
