Re: I predict...
I think you have to wear HO during the extended season but not during the ML portion of the season.

You need to keep one eye open around that fellar.... He's always grinning and giggling which keeps me kinda nervous.

Re: I predict...
I think HO during ML also.
H170 will get him, you all watch. Unless he lets me in there, then maybe I will. Nah, I'll just miss him.
I think the MO NR's have killed all the Wayne Co bucks, don't you 170? What was the "decent" buck? 140?

Re: I predict...
I used to think so too Robin, but I cannot find anywhere where it states that you have to wear HO during ML season.
I predict 170 won't allow you in there. Surely he isn't that nice of a fellow.
If 140 is decent, then what the heck have you boys been killing? I call those dang good deer.

(7) During the firearms deer hunting season
and during managed firearms deer hunts on
those areas where such hunts are held, all
persons hunting any game and also adults
accompanying youths hunting deer on a
Youth Deer and Turkey Hunting Permit, must
wear a hat and a shirt, vest, or coat of the
color commonly known as hunter orange,
which must be plainly visible from all sides.
The following are exempt from this requirement:
(A) Migratory game bird hunters;
(B) Archery permittees during the muzzleloader
portion;
(C) All hunters in counties closed during
the urban counties and antlerless portions;
(D) Hunters using archery methods while
hunting within municipal boundaries where
discharge of firearms is prohibited;
(E) Hunters on federal or state public hunting
areas and during managed hunts where
deer hunting is restricted to archery or crossbow
methods; and
(F) Hunters of small game and/or furbearers
during the muzzleloader portion.

Re: I predict...
WTF??? ML hunters have to wear HO, but archery permittees and small game hunters in the woods at the same time don't??
That's one of the most phucked up rules I've heard of! Was there a point behind MDC's stupid rule on this?
Real intelligent on MDC's part. The dude sitting in the tree with a rifle has to wear orange while other dudes are sneaking around in camo.

I just KNEW I should have predicted that OF would get on this thread and pitch a femaledog.

Why did Kamikaze pilots wear helmets ?

Yeah, nothing like Monday morning quarterbacking, huh?
Seriously though, how stupid is that decision. Hunters in the woods hunting the same animals, but the weapon in your hand dictates whether or not you have to wear HO?? If anything, archers should be wearing the HO. After all, they are the ones taking a bow to a gunfight.

Shut up you mother forker. I don't even like wearing it during regular firearms season. I might agree with you, but I don't like wearing it if I don't have to. During ML season, I generally wear it to and from the stand, however.

Re: I predict...
It's a shorter range weapon ODF. And yes they shoot as far as a 30-30 or darn near, but ML's are listed as primative weapons, so that's the difference.
I didn't know that HO wasn't needed for city hunting with a bow in the gun season. I wore HO in 2003 when I was hunting with a bow durring gun season.

Re: I predict...
I don't like wearing it either. But it beats the alternative...getting shot by some near-sighted duckhunter taking pot shots at running deer.
dave - Do what? I'm talking about archers not having to wear HO during ML season, but ML hunters having to. Same folks hunting the same woods for the same animal, but the dude with the bow can go full GI Joe and the ML is in HO. The premise behind HO is safety, so why does MDC determine that you can have dudes in full camo during a firearms season? Besides, is HO really that detrimental to a bowhunter, if they are only hunting out of a stand?
